FRANCE FIRSTS – My First Day on the French Riviera
(Thanks, merci, to today’s guest blogger, Ken Diaz, Private Shore Trips!)
As we drove along the famous street of La Promedade des Anglais, I remember how quiet it was in our minivan – we were too busy admiring the famous beaches along the Riviera to speak. We were headed to our hotel located in a small fishing village called Villefranche-sur-Mer where we had rooms reserved on the top floor with views of the Mediterranean.
As I walked through Villefranche I noted the small fishing boats racked on the sidewalk as well as the restaurants conveniently located across the street, ready to prepare the fresh fish. This is exactly what a fishing village should look like!
We took a drive to visit the famous Casino in Monte Carlo, where we noted the red Ferrari parked in front! In Monaco, we visited the Palace and also walked through the Cathedral where Grace Kelly is buried (her chamber had the most flowers). We ended the days exploration by climbing the countless stairs of the medieval village of Eze. The views from the top of the mountain were incredible!
Later that night, we were treated to an outdoor performance by a French Tina Turner impersonator. I will truly never forget her rendition of Proud Mary…”Rollings on Zeeeeee Riiiver!” And I’ll never forget my first day on the French Riviera!
Currently, I work for a company that provides private shore excursions for cruise ship passengers in Europe. I love helping people experience the French Riviera!
