In a Pinch a Shirt Becomes a Skirt!

Another funny story from our dear clients. This one is from  Barbara S.  from her Panama Canal cruise aboard Holland America’s Rotterdam this spring.

“We met this couple over drinks one night, and, as it usually does on cruise ships, the conversation came around to cruise ship stories. And this is one of the funniest stories I have ever heard.

“These were very charming, fun people, probably in their mid 60′s. She was just darling, kind of short and curvy with a big smile, and some sort of accent that I never quite figured out. And her husband was a big guy – tall, husky, friendly. They told us this hilarious story about their last cruise.

“It was the last night of their cruise, and she was frustrated by the fact that their bags had to be packed and placed outside their door in just a few minutes, and her husband was out having a night-cap while she was doing all the packing, as usual. So she scrambled to get everything packed up and out the door, leaving just their toiletries, night-clothes and clothing for the next day in their hand luggage to carry off the ship in the morning.

This rolling duffel bag is the perfect size for end of cruise hand luggage.

“So – next morning, they get up and shower and get ready to disembark the ship to head to the airport for their flight to Barcelona.

“And that’s when she realized that the only things she had left out of their packed luggage for her to wear was a shirt and shoes. No pants. No skirt.

“She called Customer Relations on the ship, who confirmed that not only was their luggage already off the ship, but it was 1.5 hours away at the Rome airport, checked in for their flight. She wouldn’t have access to her clothes – her PANTS – until they claimed their bags in Barcelona.

“So she started looking for options. She couldn’t wear her night-gown. All she had to work with were the boxer shorts and t-shirt that her husband had slept in. She tried on the boxer shorts, but they were way too big in the waist and they looked too much like underwear. And that’s when she got the idea for the skirt.

Make sure you like your traveling companion's t-shirts, just in case you need them...

“She stretched out the neck of her husband’s t-shirt, put it over her head, and pulled it down until the neck was around her waist. She then tucked the sleeves in as if they were pockets. She put on her blouse, tied her sweater around her waist, and off they went.

“She got off the ship, took the shuttle to the airport in Rome, and flew to Barcelona wearing her husband’s t-shirt as a skirt.

“We just laughed and laughed at her story, and I must say that I admired her creativity!”
